National Overdose Awareness Day

Today is National Overdose Awareness day.
⠀⠀
And if this day has any significance to you, you’re not alone.
⠀⠀
Last night Virginia seized enough fentanyl to kill 14 million people. Just 66 pounds of it could wipe out the entire state of Pennsylvania.
⠀⠀
Let that sink in. We are in crisis right now and it’s moved far beyond anything you can imagine.
⠀⠀
I see the posts about letting them die because they aren’t worth it.
⠀⠀
I see the posts about Narcan being “free” while insulin costs a fortune.
⠀⠀
I see the posts about the utter shock that someone they know is addicted to heroin as if it’s still a drug reserved for the dregs of our society.

⠀⠀I don’t know the answer to fix this, but I do know it can happen to someone you love. I hope the answer comes soon because I’m sick of reading about loss.
⠀⠀
On May 11, 2016, my brother, Samuel Jr, lost his life to an overdose.
⠀⠀
Every day is overdose awareness in my heart and soul.
⠀⠀
If you need someone to talk to, don’t hesitate to DM or email me. 💜.
